Mexico City’s Green Mirage
Why Mexicans roll their eyes when tourists say the capital it is “so green”
If you look up “Mexico City” on social media, you’ll surely find posts from tourists that visited Mexico’s capital and complimented it for its greenery. From “Mexico City is so green!” to pictures that highlight the city’s parks and tree-lined roads, it’s easy to be fooled by an image that only shows half of the reality its inhabitants live.

A more realistic picture would point to an unequal distribution of these green areas, with the bigger part of them located in tourist-friendly areas such as Condesa, Roma, and Chapultepec.
