The Mexico Edition of the Tradwife Is Nothing Like the One You Know
Social media sells the fantasy of the luxurious stay-at-home wife. National data tells a different story.
If you scroll through social media long enough, you eventually meet her: the “traditional wife,” or tradwife —a woman who openly rejects the grind of the labor market to devote herself, full-time and unapologetically, to domestic life. In the United States and Europe, the archetype tends to look familiar: retro aesthetics, anti-feminist rhetoric, and a return-to-the-homestead fantasy.
Mexico, however, has produced its own variant.
